Identity + Transformation = the Formula for Bringing Heaven to Earth

Hi Fellow Builders, Scott here…

My last post, I talked about Identity and the power behind realizing who you are in Christ and walking in that Power. I think now it is natural to talk about what results when we find our true Identity and begin walking in it.

At the end of the day, we all should want to participate and “do” the will of God. We all should want the types of miraculous outpouring of God’s healing and transforming power that Jesus and His disciples demonstrated to exist now through us. As we recognize and walk in our Identity, God is able to allow us to participate in and facilitate miraculous life-changing events in people’s lives.

The Will of God
One of the biggest and most complicated questions I have heard floating about in the Western Church is “What is the will of God?” I hear theologians try all kinds of ways to derive pharisaical answers that are deep, complicated, and yet vague.

Personally, I think the answer to the question “What is the will of God?” is much easier than these complicated theological “answers”. To find the answer, I look to find what Jesus’ instructions were to the disciples as he sent them out:

Matthew 10:7-8
“And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”

And again in Matthew 6:10 as he taught how to pray:
“Your Kingdom come. Your will be done. On Earth as it is in Heaven.”

As I look at these verses, it seems clear what the will of God is. He wants what is in Heaven to exist on Earth. He wants to bring His reality to everyone here on Earth…healing, wholeness, joy, peace and wellness. As Christians, we are charged to both exemplify and walk in this reality as we bring His heavenly realm here to Earth. As we learn and walk in our Identity, this “heavenly realm on Earth” should become our norm. Acts of healing, restoration of marriages, peace in the middle of a storm should be “ordinary” not extraordinary. That is not to say that God’s acts of miracles should be taken for granted, no! I am saying that what we deem “supernatural” is all very natural to the God we serve!

A “Holy Collision” between Heaven and Earth must take place!

The way to bring about this “Holy Collision” is to walk with a renewed mind.

Renew Your Mind
Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Here we can see Paul clearly states that we must have a renewing of the mind that then will lead to transformation. How do we renew our mind? Renewing of the mind comes by the pure hunger to read God’s word and to meet with Him on a daily basis. Filling your mind with the thoughts of God is paramount to a renewed mind.

The mind is a huge factor when it comes to walking in renewed thought and in turn receiving the revelation that leads to transformation. Our minds are doing one of two things with every thought and agreement…either cooperating with God or cooperating with Satan. It really is that simple.  This opens up an entirely new subject of agreements that we make (perhaps in a subsequent post).  But in a nutshell, as we hear things that pertain to ourselves and/or other people, we evaluate them and take them on as our own… good or bad.  So if you hear (in your own head), “I can never do anything right”, you need to think… “does God say things like that about me?”  The answer is, absolutely not!  God loves you, is ALWAYS good, and sees the Jesus that lives in you.

“We cannot afford to have a thought in our mind that God does not have Himself”

…. Bill Johnson

Having a thought that does not originate from, or sound like God, is counter intuitive and counter productive to the renewing process.

Therefore, it is important to be able to discern the voice of God from the voices of Hell. Unless we know what God’s voice sounds like (by reading His Word and having conversations with Him), we cannot tell if we are listening to the Truth or to lies.

By recognizing and identifying what He sounds like, by understanding our Identity in Him, and by walking with a renewed mind (having the thoughts that God has about ourselves and all situations), then we see things from His perspective and identify with His thoughts. The renewed mind sees things the way God sees things!

I pray that this revelation finds a place in your heart just as it has for myself and my family.

In His service…

Scott Clifton
